Sheriff plans extra patrols for St. Patrick's Day

During St. Patrick's Day weekend, the Wood County Sheriff's Office will be stepping up patrols.

The deputies will pay particular attention to violations such as driving under the influence, failing to yield, and speeding, which all contribute to fatal crashes.

Seat belt violations and driving under the influence will not be tolerated.

Drink responsibly as bars and restaurants prepare for St. Patrick's Day and the college basketball tournament season.

“People will celebrate St. Patrick's Day at local bars, restaurants, and private parties,” said OIU Commander Erik Lockhart.

" Drink responsibly if you want to avoid relying on your chance of getting home safely.

Know Ohio's laws, regulations and rules pertaining to the sale and handling of alcohol.

Don't serve intoxicated patrons. You should look out for intoxication symptoms such as slurred speech, difficulty making decisions, stumbling, vomiting, altered behaviour, and loss of consciousness

In order to promote social responsibility, the DOLC issues licenses to businesses on March 17 and all month long.
